Railway controller for very busy and well known main line from London to the West Midlands and north. Besotted with my kind and sweet natured staffy. 🐾
@notofthisera Being at work generally sucks in this heat unless you’re in an air conditioned office. My dog is really struggling with it so no walks on the hills this week 😕
@NadineDorries It was the government that specified the poor standard of interiors on the GWR IET trains. I believe you were a government minister during that period?
All this stored electric stock shows the madness of projects such as East West Rail going for partial electrification which means that these trains cannot be used on EWR without modifications to add batteries.
@DkwonMark@john_grainger@LNER GBRF incidentally made history earlier when they diverted their Masboro - London Gateway liner via Royston. It is the first time a liner with the larger containers has been diverted that way since the line was route cleared to W10 a few months ago.
@DkwonMark@john_grainger@LNER Above all noted, but there were daily route learning runs in 2025. Also a 90 min delay is sometimes better than being on rail replacement or not getting anywhere at all.
@NorthHertsDC Royston is a town that’s struggling. The free parking after 3pm made it worthwhile to visit. The council know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. We’ll use the free parking at Tesco next time.
@AnnelieseDodds Completely missing the point that the railway has directly been under public control via DFT since 2020. Much longer if you count indirectly… How’s that been going?
@DavidHorne Thank you for your detailed reply. The Mk4 sets still have non migraine inducing lighting and are pleasant to travel in. Hopefully they’ll be around for a bit.
@DavidHorne@railnigel Why just first class David? In my opinion, trains, especially on former intercity routes should have soft and relaxing lighting in whatever class.
@rushman1uk@LNER I for one am very grateful as the older trains are way superior in my opinion. I detest Azumas with their pain inducing seats and retina burning interior lighting. Once the 225s go that’s me done with travel on the ECML.
@MattJennings337 Also as a though route linking Anglia with the South Wales and the West Country. This is why Beeching recommended for it to stay open.
