The road to Svaneti takes 8 hours. For some students, the road to school takes them through avalanches.
Our teammate Elene made the drive — laptops and internet packages in tow — to reach students in one of the most remote, breathtaking corners of the Caucasus Mountains.

437th day of uninterrupted protests in Georgia! No one will ever question again how democratic and supportive a Georgian society is, or how worthy it is of a European future!
A funny video is circulating on Georgian FB:
• Day 17 — a protester tells journalists he can’t keep standing in the freezing cold anymore, it's been 17 days!
• Day 216 — the same guy is laughing at how absurd it is that the protests are still going.
• Day 365 — yesterday, on the 1-year mark, he’s laughing again at the irony of it all, admiring how big the crowd is.
Unless you’ve lived through daily, uninterrupted protests for a full year, it’s hard to grasp the physical and mental toll. But what choice do we have? We can’t give up on the idea of a free Georgia.

The crowd in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, on day 234 of daily, nationwide protests. 🇬🇪
We're chanting 'until the end', meaning until the repressive, illegitimate, pro-Russian GD regime collapses. ✊
Georgia meets May 9, Europe Day with more than six months of continuous street protests.
Georgian Resistance—that’s what this protest will be called. It will go down in world history as the longest, continuous, and peaceful stand against an authoritarian regime.
Georgia. The hundredth (!!!) day of protests. Without a break. Without excuses. When democracy is breaking down all over the world. This is called perseverance and resilience. ❤️
Three years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the streets of Tbilisi are filled with Georgians rallying in solidarity with the brave Ukrainian people. Glory to the heroes!
President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, leading Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.
The greater the gap between intellectual and technological maturity and emotional underdevelopment, the greater the risk of person losing their freedom!
Georgia is truly remarkable, as is its society!
It's evident in every way- no one is willing to accept a Russified Georgia, a Georgia deprived of its constitution, or a Georgia under an illegitimate government & parliament
That's why so many of you are out here today- I see you
Georgians are rising up against a pro-Putin government they accuse of stealing votes and dragging the country away from Europe and into Russia’s authoritarian grip. #GeorgiaProtests#FightForFreedom
Georgian youth take to the streets to protest against the "Russian Law" (Foreign Agent Bill), swearing an oath to defend Georgia's freedom and its European future.
People of Georgia protesting against their pro-Russian government following the passage of the "Russian Law" (Foreign Agent Bill), a law that threatens the country's democracy and its future membership in the European Union.
🇬🇪🇪🇺 Arrests starting in Tbilisi. Russia’s allies in Georgia are seriously jeopardizing the country’s EU perspective. But Georgia’s strong pro-European people say: #NoToRussianLaw. Long live free Georgia!
