The idea that any Albertan with a shred of conservatism, centrist views, pragmatism and balance in public policy in them will ever consider supporting or voting for a far left socialist NDP or @RachelNotley (folks, we are not talking about the classical liberals here. We are talking about a party which constitution is firmly rooted in socialism that despises free enterprise, individual responsibility, free market economy, etc) that nearly bankrupted our province, caused unprecedented devastation to the economy and the oil and gas sector, ran the most divisive government in history, is hilarious. I have faith in ordinary Albertans that they will come through for the sake of their province, and all of us.
@seansabraw I don’t know, do people have the same emotional attachment to political parties as sports teams? I don’t personally but that being said it’s not like everyone cares about sports in that way either.
I’m not sure I’ll ever understand the mindset “I’m voting for them because I have always voted for them”. Parties change over time as do priorities of society.
If moderate conservatives think that the likes of Smith are not one of them they’re only likely option is to splinter.
The most common question I get these days is “I’m a conservative but I don’t trust Smith or don’t support the current UCP policies. What should I do?”
I wrote a column about it. https://t.co/9qLaDTJZwF
TLDR: don’t vote UCP in the hopes they will then dump Smith. Won’t work.
Where were you when the McDavid lottery turned the golden card? I was in my living room, my wife asked me what would happen if Edmonton won. I said impossible, and then Bill Daly said "we have a winner" and I spilled wine on the floor. That's a capital offense at my house. You?
