Brother, you lived every day with one purpose—To make Nepal proud and you did. I was fortunate to call you a friend and a brother. To witness the world celebrate your extraordinary achievements. Today, Nepal has lost a hero and I have lost a brother. See you on the other side, my brother.
Our deepest condolences to Suchi bhauju,Himani and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this unimaginable time. @nimsdai
The greatest mountaineer of our time.
There are some lives that leave an imprint far beyond the years they are given, and dear Nims dai, yours was one of them. My heart is deeply and profoundly saddened knowing you are no longer with us.
You put Nepal on the global map in a way few people ever have. Everywhere I have travelled, when people learned I was Nepali, they would say, “The country of the man from the 14 Peaks documentary.” That was your legacy. You inspired millions, transformed how the world saw Nepali mountaineers, and brought immeasurable pride and goodwill to our mountain community and our nation.
Thank you for everything you did, for our mountains, for Nepal, and for all of us who looked up to you. We will forever be proud of you, dai.
My heart goes out to Suchi bhauju and Himani. I pray they are given the strength to endure this unimaginable and irreparable loss.
My deepest condolences also to the families and loved ones of Pur Bahadur “Yukta” Gurung, Kili Pemba “Kilu” Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thundu Sherpa, Gyalu Sherpa, Sohail Sakhi, Mallory Geis, Nadhira Al Harthy, and Wang Zhong.
My thoughts and prayers are with every family, friend, teammate, and the entire mountaineering community grieving this heartbreaking tragedy.
Forever in our hearts and prayers. 🙏💔
