Alumni Meet in Japan – Kizuna-Kai ’26 🇯🇵

Had the pleasure of meeting the alumni of Chennai Institute of Technology in Tokyo and engaging in some truly interesting conversations about their experiences, journeys, and careers in Japan.

What made the gathering particularly special was the diversity of the group. Some of our alumni have been in Japan for more than eight years, including members from the early batches of CIT. Seeing them continue to grow, thrive, and build successful careers in Japan is incredibly encouraging.

They have not only created their own paths but are also showing the way for the juniors to follow, making Japan a destination for higher education, internships, professional opportunities, and long-term careers.

From the very inception of Chennai Institute of Technology, we have looked at Japan as a strategic partner country. Over the years, our relationships with Japanese universities, industries, institutions, and friends have gradually translated into meaningful opportunities for our students.

Today, we are proud to see our CIT alumni community in Japan approaching 150 with alumni working across different cities and regions of the country. This growing network is becoming an important support system for students who aspire to follow the same path.

India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 1.0 had approved 10 projects. Of that Micron's ATMP plant in Sanand was the first to go operational last month. This month, Kaynes' OSAT plant in Sanand will go live. By end of the year CG Power+Renesas OSAT facility is also expected to go live.

The big one - Tata Electronics+PSMC Fab targeting 50K wafer starts per month is expected to start production at 28nm node in the first quarter of 2027. Tata Electronics is also setting up their own OSAT expected to go live in Assam by end of the year.

Multiple smaller projects are in various stages of execution and the rollout of ISM 2.0 is also expected to bring more momentum to the sector.
