Can the time it takes someone to fill in a digital survey tell us something about their cognitive function?
📢 Buckle up, I’ve got a preprint and a thread for you!

The Allostatic Interoceptive Network (AIN) suggests interoception, social cognition, and emotion overlap across neurodegeneration. In @BiologicalPsyc1 we conducted a metanalysis of 6,985 participants (atrophy, functional connectivity & metabolism: https://t.co/GDTvhp34uW) and found key AIN regions involved across these domains, especially in frontotemporal dementia. 🧵1/4

Previous studies show that a number of individual difference factors are related to metacognitive biases: for instance, both gender (being a woman) and anxiety have been linked to underconfidence.
New study out in World Psychiatry on the Network Theory of Mental Disorders. Here is what the study shows in lay person’s terms. https://t.co/5yR0FretKQ
During moderate tonic locus coeruleus activation in mice, noradrenaline release engages cortical regions related to associative processing, while burst-like stimulation biases the brain toward sensory processing

Ever felt less motivated to take on effortful tasks? Our latest study sheds light on a key mechanism behind that choice: lactate levels in the brain’s dmPFC/dACC

Our second living Bayesian meta-analysis on tVNS-induced effects is online now 👀. In this preprint+app, we analyze pupil dilation and find marked differences between pulsed (works!) vs. continuous protocols.
