I will write more about this. But to me these numbers underscore the mismatch between investor perception and reality when it comes to the performance of African stock markets. There's a bull market. No one knows. No one cares. These are among the best returns globally. Stunning
@mr_deepvalue Looked at THIS too years ago when I was doing deep value activism in Australia and Asia. Decided against it. I got weary of it all. Now buy compounders in Frontier Africa. Haven't looked back. Done 27% CAGR since Oct 2020. Sleep soundly. Don't have to deal with dickheand boards.
@learnehoc@cjoye Absolutely. Thought I was the only one who had a problem with this. I have multiple citizenships. No other country charges even half what Australia does for a passport, which even after you pay for it says "This document remains the property of the Australian Government." ๐คก๐คก๐คก
TBL has announced a dividend. They refer to it as an "Interim Dividend" as a Final Dividend may only be declared out of Audited final results and their audit is apparently dragging on. Last year they followed up with a final dividend too. Presumably that is also planned this year
@ekmokaya Ethiopian Airlines is a behemoth and has been around for 80 years! To all the doubting Thomases it proves a huge complicated company can be built and thrive in Africa.
1/ I've said it before and will say it again: avoid EM index investing. Their performance has lagged, both in the short-term and in the ultra-long run.
@PeteWargent Doing well thanks. African frontier equities have done way better than Aussie housing, with my African Lions Fund doing 24. 3% CAGR, net, in USD, since inception in Oct 2020.
Latest interview I did. African Lions Fund was up 67.2% in USD terms after all fees and expenses in 2025. Quietly confident 2026 will see further gains...
African stock markets had world-beating returns in 2025. Can they do the same in 2026? @globalvaluehunt has some thoughts, here: https://t.co/2OTG0zkm3g
@AntonKreil Hahaha. Totally agree, but I detect a note of schadenfreude. What is the solution? The west is cooked. East Asia is ageing very rapidly. The world is truly a mess.
