@tsoding LLM's are popular because many programmers don't have any confidence in their own abilities. They are always looking for ways to offload their responsibilities, which of-course makes them less skilled over time and sustains the cycle of incompetence.

My position, which has been the same since the beginning, is: I will never pay for a subscription service to program (nor rely on some Internet service), and I will never turn my brain off and stop caring about the details I care about today.
I am not inherently attached to typing every character, and I think the idea of human language processing and accelerating the production of programming language semantics is exciting. I would only ever do this using local models on my own hardware, and I would employ such tools very carefully (likely using them in my own tooling), and likely not in the ways that many people are employing them today.
If I can accomplish the same work I would’ve been doing by hand more quickly, that’s pure win. But if I accelerate yet lose attention to detail, or the ability to think through those details, that’s not the same work anymore, and so there is some loss. That loss is potentially very important.
📢 Order of the Sinking Star will be available October 8 for $29.99!
We're also happy to be partnering with @edmundmcmillen, @Billy_Basso, and @BIGMODEgames to bring you special Order of the Sinking Star x Mewgenics and Order of the Sinking Star x Animal Well Bundles! 🫶

People taking AI CEOs at their word amidst a blatantly transparent PR ploy to parlay public fears into incumbent-friendly regulation for an industry with zero financial viability on the eve of their record shattering IPOs is the reason why bubbles exist in the first place
@valigo That's what years of race to the bottom & devaluating software does to people's expectations. Maybe even FOSS is a bit to blame here, because it sets expectations that you can get decent software for free. Which of-course is not true, maintainers pay with their time.
At this point if the devs aren’t clearly anti-AI or say that no GenAI wasn’t used in the process, I’m just not going to play it.
I have literally 1000s of great human-made games to choose from.
I hope more people adopt the same mindset as they get tired of vibeslopped games.
@ichbins9000@JonasTyroller I don't think people who don't want anything to do with generative AI or want it entirely gone are radical. It's mostly used for scams/cutting corners right now. We can hope it's not like that in the future, but as it stands right now it's overwhelmingly used for scams.
