Aerith's dream date is such a fun exploration of fate and how she's willing to accept her destiny at the expense of her own desires. Opposingly, Cloud combats every choice he doesn't make because he feels uneasy when the hand of fate takes the option of choice away from him.

Do you mean acting like Zack, assuming his false identity? Of course, because for Cloud, the only way he thinks Tifa will pay attention to him is if he stops being himself. How romantic and not at all toxic
Because do squats is a move of Zack, and if Cloud does that in his fabricated memory, it's not to impress Tifa; it's because he's acting like Zack. That's why in the memory he acts so animated and different from how he really is—because he's remembering Zack and simply projecting his image onto his own performance.

Square Enix really gave Cloud & Aerith a Koibito Tsunagi—

English Translation:

“Lovers-Tie” or “Lovers-Hold”.

SE is literally DIRECTLY confirming that Cloud & Aerith are lovers at the end of Rebirth.
