With the ultraviolet camera now operational, Smile becomes the first spacecraft since 2008 to capture the full ring of northern lights around the north pole in ultraviolet light.

On this day in history. 21st September 1915 Stonehenge is for bought for £6,600 by Cecil Chubb. Cecil attended an auction in Salisbury, England, reportedly to buy furniture. Instead, he bought Stonehenge, the mysterious Neolithic monument located in southern England. His winning bid was 6,600 British pounds.

I look at this photo and can’t help but wonder what was going through their minds.

They were trapped above the impact zones of the World Trade Center, standing at shattered windows, desperately searching for air, help, or some impossible way out.

Did they call home? Did they pray? Did they tell the person beside them they were scared? Did they still believe someone was coming to save them?

We know how the story ends. They didn’t.

But in this photograph, they didn’t know that yet. They were still sons, daughters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers and friends—still hoping.

That is the part of 9/11 that absolutely breaks me.

May we never allow these faces to become just another photograph in a history book. Never forget. 🇺🇸💔

9/11 from an NYPD helicopter, and from space. I don’t recall seeing these before.

The day the world changed. It was never the same again.

For many worldwide, it was the day they first met the idea of radical Islam that now courses through Western streets.

For those of us in military service, the subsequent wars shaped our lives. America’s allies stood squarely beside them on various battlefields over the next 20 years.

For those in the planes, the towers, the police and fire departments and others, it was the day that the evil of Islamic terrorism entered and ended their lives. May they rest in peace.

I do not think we learned the right lessons from 9/11. We still have not.

🕊 The missing Twin Towers returned to New York for a few minutes

A light show was held on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

The drones first rose into the night sky in a spiral, then formed the outlines of the destroyed World Trade Center towers.

The installation used 2,977 drones — one for each person killed in the attacks.
