Two different global AI races juxtaposed perfectly in one timeline:
1. Raw capability: @elonmusk & SpaceX building a from-scratch C training stack for 220,000 GB300s to push ever-larger and faster frontier models. Ingenuity from abundance.
2. Decentralized diffusion: @jon_durbin proving a 176B model can feasibly train across just 4 nodes on the open internet. Ingenuity from constraint.

Abundance and Necessity. We’re in two important geostrategic races, and policymakers risk being too singly focused on the first. The decentralized layer creates real breakthroughs under real constraints — breakthroughs that lower participatory hurdles, deliver tools and building blocks that global builders improve every day, and bootstrap broader innovation. Both frontiers are important.
