Prominent Igbo leaders have reacted angrily to comments by the Minister of Works, David Umahi, who claimed that Bola Tinubu has addressed the marginalisation of Ndigbo through infrastructure development and political appointments.

The leaders dismissed the remarks, telling Umahi to “shut up”, insisting that he has no mandate to speak on behalf of the Igbo people.

Umahi made the comments while inspecting federal road projects in the South-East geopolitical zone, where he argued that feelings of marginalisation had eased due to increased federal investments in roads and other critical infrastructure.

His statements, however, sparked outrage among South-East stakeholders, who said the claims do not reflect the lived realities of the Igbo people.
