Today, we have launched the World Disasters Report 2026. Producing a report on harmful information is not easy. It means addressing a complex and highly sensitive topic.

So why do it now? Because every day, harmful information is blocking humanitarian action, eroding trust, and putting lives directly at risk. This report makes one thing clear: harmful information is no longer just a communications challenge. It is a humanitarian risk as real as a collapsed bridge or a guarded checkpoint. In some cases, it is a hazard in its own right.

Our @IFRC network listens to communities, works with verified data, and grounds its analysis in real-world experience. We are “local, everywhere” and today, that must include the digital space as much as the physical one.

We can either stand by as harmful information erodes the trust it has taken a century to build. Or we can choose to make credible, trusted information our most powerful tool.

A multi-sectoral response is underway in Cebu to support communities affected by Typhoon #Tino and the recent #Earthquake.

@philredcross, with support from @ifrc and partners, is distributing sleeping kits, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, and jerry cans to affected families. Shelter assistance and multipurpose cash support will begin in the coming weeks.

The Philippines’ rainy season runs from June to November, coinciding with its typhoon season, which peaks from July to October and sometimes extends until December—making the coming months critical for accelerating response activities and strengthening community preparedness.

More than two weeks after the devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Bogo City, Cebu, Philippines, the Philippine Red Cross @philredcross, with support from the @IFRC, continues to provide critical assistance to the affected communities.

One week after the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, the needs are beyond words.

With @IFRC network support, the @MyanmarRedCross is there in the zone of impact working tirelessly to provide life-saving support.

In response to the scale of the disaster, the IFRC has launched an Emergency Appeal for 100 million Swiss francs to assist 100,000 people with life-saving relief and early recovery support over the next 24 months.

The coming days, weeks, and months will be critical for the people of Myanmar as they begin the long road to recovery.

@ifrc has launched an emergency appeal seeking CHF 5.3 million to support @philredcross to reach 71,250 people with aid.

After Tropical Storm Trami (locally known as Kristine) made landfall, it intensified and developed into a typhoon, hitting the east of Luzon island.

The @philredcross is working around the clock to support communities in its path. The typhoon brought strong winds, heavy rainfall and widespread flooding across several regions, including Cagayan Valley, Bicol, and Southern Luzon.

With nearly half a million people affected, @philredcross volunteers are on the ground, delivering essential services. Their efforts highlight the critical importance of local humanitarian action, one of the key focuses during our @IFRC General Assembly, which ended yesterday.

Heavy rains from the enhanced Habagat, Tropical Depression Butchoy, and Super Typhoon Carina caused severe flooding in the Philippines, impacting thousands of families.
With the help of IFRC-DREF, @philredcross will assist approximately 33,000 individuals (6,600 families) affected by these events. They will provide essential household items, sleeping kits, hygiene kits, jerry cans, hot meals, basic health care, WASH interventions, livelihood support, and education.
