@kris_sg People should be kind enough to use public transport more with in city limits on weekends atleast has they have bit of a time. Otherwise it's a chaos for the kind of infrastructure we have, which can't support too many public & private vehicles getting in to road

Number of cities with a million+ population in South India as of 2026
Tamilnadu: 8 cities : Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Tiruppur, Erode, Vellore
Kerala: 7 cities: Kochi, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur, Kannur, Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram
AP + TG: 5 cities: Hyderabad, Warangal, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur
Karnataka? - 1 city : Bengaluru | Hubballi, Dharwad and Mysuru are only now crossing or approaching the one million mark as contiguous urban areas.
Karnataka's relatively weak network of large secondary cities has contributed to the concentration of jobs, higher education, healthcare, and investment in Bengaluru. We need a clear policy focus to build tier2 cities in Karnataka @CMofKarnataka
Personal update: My time in Bengaluru has come to an abrupt end.
After having lived in the city for more than 10 years, I have relocated to my Tier 3 hometown in Tripura (Northeast India) for the foreseeable future.
When I first came here to study at the age of 16 in 2012, I was amazed by the people, culture and the enormous opportunities that the city had to offer.
There is no place like ನಮ್ಮ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು .
For millions of small-town men like me, Bengaluru gave hope and the possibility to dream big and extraordinary.
It provided a sneak peek into a world that did not exist for us.
I have never complained about minor inconveniences that I experienced in this city because Bengaluru was/is/will be 100x better than where I came from.
The vibe and weather of this city are unmatched.
Places like JP Nagar, Jaynagar, and Banshankari will forever be in my memories now. I will miss my favourite Masala Dosa and Chicken Boneless Meghna Biriyani, of course.
Lastly, I am eternally grateful to the locals (Kannadigas) who have always been kind, warm and welcoming to me.
Namma Bengaluru forever ♥️
Electronic City is living proof that Bengaluru doesn’t have a money problem. It has an execution problem.
Requesting @TVMohandasPai and @kiranshaw to personally take Bengaluru Development Minister @krishnabgowda on an early morning drive and walk through @ELCITA_IN’s jurisdiction.
Not at 11 AM.
Come at 6 AM.
Walk the streets before the city wakes up.
Here’s what you’ll see.
🧹 Roads already being swept.
🏃 Smooth, well-maintained roads that give runners and cyclists the confidence to use them every morning.
🚶 Wide, continuous footpaths protected by safety railings—not occupied by two-wheelers.
🌳 Landscaped medians and green spaces that are actually maintained.
🛣️ Clear lane markings and road signs that are visible.
🚦 Better traffic discipline.
🔧 Maintenance teams responding before problems become bigger problems.
✨ An industrial township that feels clean, organised and cared for.
Now keep driving.
The moment you leave ELCITA’s jurisdiction, the difference is impossible to ignore.
Broken footpaths.
Encroachments.
Faded lane markings.
Garbage.
Poor maintenance.
Pedestrians pushed onto the road.
The city changes almost instantly.
That raises an important question.
If Bengaluru can achieve this standard in one part of the city…
Why can’t we achieve it across the rest of Bengaluru?
This isn’t about building something new.
It’s about copying what already works.
Study ELCITA’s operating model.
Understand its maintenance standards.
Measure its response times.
Document its best practices.
Then replicate them—first on the Outer Ring Road, then across every zone of Bengaluru.
Good governance should never depend on your PIN code.
Every Bengalurean deserves the same quality of roads, footpaths and public spaces.
We don’t need another pilot project.
We don’t need another committee.
We already have a working model.
Now we need the will to scale it.

@FriendsofBMTC
Conductors are facing delay and issues to issue the ticket via UPI scanner, this will effect commute and also traffic in peak hours. Commuters should keep amount in UPI lite account and @BMTC_BENGALURU to find better solution #Bengaluru#bmtc#upi
NEET aspirants were seen crying outside an exam centre in Bengaluru after allegedly missing entry due to delays caused by a Congress event/rally that blocked their route. If true, who takes the responsibility for their lost year?
