In Feb. @CLAtweets members met MP @timfarron@GowbarrowSam@gowbarrow Hall Farm to discuss a variety of NB topics: incorporating food & farming in our schools; calorific value vs nutrient density; intensive vs regenerative (pasture fed) livestock farming; food labelling +++
We hosted @timfarron alongside @CLANorth members to talk all things food and farming, particularly on getting across the message of food nutrition to kids and supporting farmers transitioning to better environmental practices. Always find Tim a good listener who wants change.
Great to meet with local farmers and representatives of the Country Land and Business Association in Watermillock.
We talked about how government policy can be changed to help keep Britain food secure and support more young people into farming.

@herdyshepherd1 I think I offer to you every year to come over the hill and find out why we bale graze in March. Or you could listen to a recent podcast where I explain why with @WhitriggsStuart. It’s probably better to come and ask though.

PfL members, Sam and Claire Beaumont of PfL certified @gowbarrow Farm in Cumbria, have successfully implemented bale grazing to reduce costs from £375 per head when the cattle were housed down to £30 per head, among the benefits.

A great day today with @PastureForLife ladies sharing our farming experiences and celebrating the run up to Christmas with our natural and foraged wreaths 💚
@herdyshepherd1@howemill Our reel system is a scaffold pole. Also works great. If your manufacturer can work out a way of reeling the fence in on the quad, then I’d be interested. Although sometimes I do think it’s good to get off the quad and get some exercise while walking the field.
@herdyshepherd1@howemill Yep, our pipe and string works like a dream. It occasionally falls off when the baler twine wears through, but plenty of that around for a fix.
I’m sure I’ve offered to show it to you before. Can’t believe you’ve been working with electric fence for this long without anything!

The dream team of Silas, @IanDHorsley and @gowbarrow delivered such an amazing workshop for @PastureForLife we had to move to another bigger tent.
Finished the night with my mates & lots of songs - perfect 🎶
