திங்கள்கிழமை காலை என்றாலும், பெருந்திரளாகக் கூடி, முழு அர்ப்பணிப்புடன் உழைத்த தன்னார்வலர்கள், இளைஞர்கள் மற்றும் சகோதர, சகோதரிகள் அனைவருக்கும் என் மனமார்ந்த பாராட்டுக்களையும், நன்றிகளையும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன். உங்கள் சமூக அக்கறையே நமது இயக்கத்தின் மிகப்பெரிய பலம்.

வைகை நதி என்பது வெறும் நதி மட்டும் அல்ல. மதுரை மாநகரின் உயிர்நாடி. பல ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளாக இந்த மண்ணின் நாகரிகத்தையும், விவசாயத்தையும், ஆன்மிகப் பாரம்பரியத்தையும் தாங்கி நிற்கும் தாய். வைகை அன்னையைத் தூய்மையாகப் பாதுகாப்பது, நம் ஒவ்வொருவரின் தார்மீகப் பொறுப்பு. ஒரு நதியைப் பாதுகாப்பது என்பது வெறும் சுற்றுச்சூழலைக் காப்பதல்ல, நமது பண்பாடு, வரலாறு, வாழ்வாதாரம் அனைத்தையும் பாதுகாப்பதாகும்.

வைகையை மாசுபடுத்தாமல் காப்போம். பிளாஸ்டிக் மற்றும் கழிவுகளை நதியில் கொட்டாமல் இருப்போம். நம் குழந்தைகளுக்கும், வருங்கால தலைமுறைக்கும் தூய்மையான வைகையை விட்டுச் செல்வோம். "சுத்தமான, வளமான தமிழகம்" என்ற இலக்கை மக்கள் இயக்கமாக மாற்றி, பசுமையும் தூய்மையும் நிறைந்த தமிழ்நாட்டை ஒன்றிணைந்து உருவாக்குவோம் என்ற அன்பான வேண்டுகோளை, மதுரை மக்களுக்கு வைத்துக் கொள்கிறேன். (1/4)
