My views on the US-Iran war has escalated into dangerous attacks on #desalination #water infrastructure on both sides on @MeenakshiRajat News Show.

Exposing the acute water vulnerability of the arid Middle East where such plants supply 90-99% of drinking water in nations like Kuwait, Qatar, and parts of Iran.

US strikes reportedly damaged the Bonji desalination facility in Iran’s Hormozgan province (near Jask), disrupting supplies to around 20 villages and 10,000 residents through destroyed pumps, intake systems, and electrical infrastructure, while Iranian retaliatory attacks hit Kuwaiti power and desalination plants—causing fires, shutdowns, injuries, and emergency water crises in a country almost entirely dependent on desalination.

This mutual targeting of vital civilian utilities not only triggers immediate humanitarian risks, shortages, and reconstruction costs but also signals a troubling normalization of infrastructure warfare in a water-scarce region, with broader implications for regional stability, potential mass displacement, and the high human price of prolonged conflict beyond traditional battlefields.
