Ok, so this was expected after he was asked to step away from the leadership post to form a coalition with ADMK. However, my instincts tell me this break is strategic. Irrespective of the hopes of breaking into Tamil Nadu politics, BJP is treated as almost a pariah for many. However, Annamalai has a huge fan following - he fits the bill as an intelligent, hardworking, and humble background Tamilian. To me it seems that this break away from BJP is to help him build a brand that allows for non-Dravidian politics to come to Tamil Nadu. He shall chip away at the ideology while not being tainted by the saffron of BJP....
