Your statement entirely omits Bangladesh, showcasing a lack of historical awareness. Let me clarify: the 1971 war was **Bangladesh's Liberation War**, not an Indian victory. India joined as an ally of our liberation forces, supporting a struggle already led by the Bangladeshi people.

While we are deeply grateful to the brave Indian soldiers who supported us, your attempt to appropriate this history disrespects the millions of Bangladeshis who sacrificed their lives. Know your history, Prime Minister—distorting the truth only brings shame to your nation.

Breaking news: US, EU, UK et al float a watered down proposal on loss and damage. Rather than establishing the fund here in Sharm El-Sheikh, they now downgrade the COP decision to only agree some ambiguous funding arrangements that kick the can down the road.
