The GOP plan for the economy has 5 parts:
1) Drive up inflation & the deficit by cutting taxes for the rich.
2) Raise Rx drug costs.
3) Increase health care premiums.
4) Cut Medicare & Social Security benefits.
5) Cancel student loan forgiveness.
Not convinced? Vote Democrat.
Dr. Oz says the decision should be between the woman, her doctor, and local politicians. The problem is, when the woman and the doctor want one thing and the politicians want another, the woman loses. Sometimes, she also loses her life.
So much for that scheme.
So happy to see this. Rette was a dear friend. You might be interested in the anthology Umpteen Ways of Looking at a Possum: Critical and Creative Responses to Everette Maddox, which I co-edited with Julie Kane.
Here's "The Waste" by Everette Maddox (1944-1989), taken from his selected, I Hope It's Not Over, and Good-by (2009). Many thanks to @turisa_rucker for suggesting Maddox (specifically his poem, "The Miracle," which I'll retweet as well. One more poem by Maddox tomorrow.
Here’s the truth: I’m running to serve PA.
Dr. Oz is running to use PA.
I got knocked down, but I got back up. And now I’m fighting for everyone in PA who has gotten knocked down and had to get back up. #PASenateDebate

Of course they'll take away Social Security. They'll smile at you when they do it, too.
This is just to say...
I have submitted
the poems
that were sitting
in drafts
and which
I was probably
saving
for editing
Forgive me
they were tempting
so rough
and so raw
“Stunning historical fiction that puts women front and center―at last!―in the late-19th-century world of Cubans seeking freedom for their island from the other side of the sea. Beautiful & illuminating!”
