Q for clergy. I need a policy or procedure to support safe lone working in church and another for safe home visits. Before I write one does anyone have one that they’re prepared to share? We’re rural rather than urban so the risks may be different.
Sitting inside a McDonald’s with my granddaughters attempting to use the app. Apparently the nearest branch is 65 miles away and when I attempted to use the special offer the app switched off. Grrr.
Attended a fascinating talk on potholes and their repair last night. Interesting that the system of fining councils for not getting repairs under way in 38 days militates against doing a proper repair instead of patching. Also respect for crews wearing fireproof suits in heat.
@FrRDMutter@FrGary1@MadsDavies@McCrimmons We've had three. Two had undergone safeguarding training at work which was more extensive than the church's but they object to having to do it all again.
@SunderlandAFC There are lots of ways of measuring the time since Sunderland last played in Europe. 52 years.
I was still at school when it last happened - I've been retired nearly 8 years.
Some of the current squad's Dads weren't born then.
My Grandad was still alive and now I'm a Grandad.
As is traditional half term starts with ninety minutes of soft play, the girls being impervious to heat when they want to do something. However, twenty minutes in an air-conditioned supermarket is out of the question.
Perhaps a telling moment. I have a regular meeting on a 4th Tuesday. I pointed out that it would clash with England v Ghana at the World Cup, and nobody in the room was planning to watch the World Cup.
@MadsDavies@patrick_kidd There is certainly some deterrent in the expectation that email addresses or phone numbers will be on church websites and possibly ACNY, particularly during vacancies.
@MadsDavies@McCrimmons I’m in the unusual position of having just taken over a benefice for which I wrote the profile 6 years ago. I think the key requirement is the truth, not a gilded version based on what they’d like the benefice to be. You should be able to construct a benefice action plan from it.
