THANK YOU to each and every person who saw and spread the word about our little underdog movie. You’ve shown ACME that Wile E. Coyote is not just a low-life, cave-dwelling desert dog with no connections, no family, and no friends ❤️💥
Responses to this are incredible because it’s just people having the concept of a hypothetical scenario gently explained to them in increasingly higher detail while they just respond with “NUH UH.”
“What if you were born in Sudan”
“But I was born in America”
“I know, it’s a hypothetical, how would you feel if you were born in Sudan”
“But that’s impossible, I was born in America”
Loved this piece about Mother Mary, which, in addition to being delightfully hypnotic is also an automatic entrant into the “Great Fashion Movies” canon.
And the movie seems to know this? Sure, there are slapstick pratfalls along the way — but ultimately, Bob wins! He’s raised a capable daughter who loves him!
Fascinating take. My read: Bob is a bozo, but a good dad: we first see him in the present being super proud of Willa. He spends most of the film moving heaven and earth to find her. Once he does, he gives her exactly what she needs(unwavering emotional support). Great father IMO!
The dad (DiCaprio) stayed with his daughter, parented her, obviously did a good job despite his issues; the film despises him for it. He's treated as an unreliable doofus. And the mom who abandoned her after murdering a security guard is treated as a brave model to emulate.
Not thrilled about them beating my beloved Yankees, and still pulling for the Dodgers, but this is a true class act move that ALLLLMOST makes me hope they win. Good on Toronto!!
Every Blue Jays reliever had 51 written on their hat during Game 6 to pay their respects to Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia, who is away from the team to deal with a personal matter
@BearsFanJordan Were you FT or PT? I do know that Target recently lowered their benefits threshold to people who average 25 hours a week (I think), which is great but still leaves your benefits precarious compared to FT, I would imagine.
This is a fundamental misunderstanding of how these jobs work. From small business to major conglomerate, there arent entry level jobs hiring for 40/hr/pr wk. It’s specifically done to avoid paying benefits. Arguing
otherwise shows you’ve never worked a real job in your life
(1) A young married couple, both unskilled, take convenience store jobs at $15/hr in a moderately prosperous state. The big convenience and fast-food chains offer pretty good benefits. They both work 48-hour weeks, giving them a combined annual income of $74,880, enough to pay for a nice place to live everywhere except a few megalopolises, and even enough to put some money aside to help pay for a baby.
@BigSnugALot Distressingly, I’ve also watched permalancing become increasingly common in places like media and publishing as well (typically in entry/lower-mid level positions, which used to be fully on-staff)
@BigSnugALot Oh, 100 percent! I was referring specifically to the OP’s convenience store example of an hourly entry-level retail job, and definitely was loose in my language in my response, which was a mistake!
@AEricksonHTX Oh, OT management is ALWAYS a huge priority with hourly wage jobs (or it was when I was a manger) — the “part-time-ification” of entry level positions like sales associate is, in my experience, a slightly newer thing
@BigSnugALot Another thing I should have been more precise/fair about:Entry level retail jobs were typically full time w/benefits (at least in apparel when I started), but that began collapsing around 10 years ago, and now FT hourly jobs in that field are vanishingly rare, which is deeply sad
@BigSnugALot@MoreOrLessAMess I actually should have been more clear (definitely dashed this off at the expense of precision). I was referring to the original post that mentioned entry-level hourly retail jobs which are almost never full time (I worked in retail at the managerial level for well over a decade)
@SiddhantAdlakha@IsabelaOlivie@pixalpixal Maybe a dumb addition, but I was talking about this the other day and came down on “Sinners has multiple musical set pieces that specifically advance the plot and/or themes of the movie and a meaningful way,” hence, “a musical”
