@realcavsfans It’s the same equation as it was with the AD discussion. If Draymond and LBJ are a package deal, you do everything to convince Draymond that Cleveland is the best spot for him, and you try to get him here.
@RyanPGoldchains@___Colb___ I think the reaction wouldn’t be rooted in surprise, it would be more about that they lost out on LeBron, and they would direct the pain of losing out onto a polarizing player. He would be used as a scapegoat or punching bag.
@realcavsfans Based on what we know, this could end up being correct. And somehow, I’m talking myself into this…
Largely because if we get AD that means we get LBJ. But IF you get a healthy AD, you get a similar defensive anchor that Allen was, but also get his offensive skills to go with it
@realcavsfans I am curious, in this cap/roster crunch, what if the Cavs chose between Wade & Allen. What do the numbers show with Wade @ the 4 with Mobley @ the 5? Obviously you would need C depth if they shed Allen to retain Wade, but am curious if they could lean into a more versatile lineup
@realcavsfans@MikeAScotto I understand the cap & asset restrictions. But hoping 4 a team to gel, and players 2 develop, while subtracting contributors feels foolish. Especially w/this core who’s proven for 4 years it has limitations. There are moves that could be made they just don’t want to do them.
@realcavsfans I didn’t understand this from Windy. On one hand, he referred to Mitchell not signing an extension as “procedural” and nothing to be concerned with, but then talked about risk of trading Mobley. Those statements contradict themselves, along w/the Cavs actions as you pointed out.
@Pchopz_ Hindsight, it makes the trade for Dennis and Ellis look like the biggest waste of time since they're trying to move Dennis and potentially letting Ellis walk.
@realcavsfans Allen and Mobley are often talked about as anchors for their defense. And with good reason, because Mitchell and Harden (Previously DG) are very limited defensively to put it nicely. The Cavs struggled defensively as it is, trading a big comes with risk at making the D worse.
@realcavsfans Is this the motivation for the Thunder to go after Mobley? Is he a Wemby stopper? Trying to understand the interest from OKC’s end for Mobley when they have a similar player in Chet. Seems like a marginal upgrade but maybe pairing those two gives them versatility against Wemby?
@realcavsfans Somewhat related: His description of trading for “James the PG, not James the MVP” was funny
Leads me to believe they wanted to get an equivalent player, that came w/future financial flexibility. James’ (potential) 30m contract is more palatable than the 40m Darius is owed
