The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem has directed all U.S. government employees and their families to shelter in place and be prepared to move to a protected shelter in the event of a red alert, until further notice.
ZKsync joins Starknet in proposing L2/trustless-bridge upgrades for Zcash: https://t.co/HeVliLIuQT
Sounds like it might be possible for Zcash to do better than current-Ethereum in concentrating liquidity and in minimizing trust assumptions?
I don’t know if you all remember the encryption wars… but long story short, there was this thing called the Firesheep moment, when the world woke up to the fact that browser traffic wasn’t encrypted and your online interactions could be hijacked and/or your information stolen.
Since we wanted to buy things online, we needed protection in the form of encryption.
Today, most internet traffic is encrypted by default, and browsers will give you a warning if it’s not, so that you can make an Amazon purchase without someone stealing your credit card information or correlating your purchase with your home address and delivery date.
If we are going to use internet native digital money, it will necessarily need to provide the same protections. It’s inevitable.
Zcash is encrypted money.
In 1971, money changed from a natural system (gold) to a socialist system (fiat).
Crypto is tech to replace socialist money with a free-market system.
Market systems are inherently competitive and as tech evolves, new monies will continue to emerge to challenge existing ones.
Incredibly excited for Cypherpunk Congress this week 💛
@VitalikButerin and I will be having a fireside chat about privacy and surveillance!
What questions would you like me to ask?
bro it's so cool that we're talking about things like protecting magical internet money from advances in superpowerful quantum computing
we do not appreciate how advanced tech is getting in front of our own eyes
btw zec's privacy is quantum resistant

zcash should stop selling itself as “a privacy coin.” almost nobody wakes up caring about privacy until they are burned. people do care about store of value every day. they care about how an asset holds or grows against usd btc or gold. that is the real frame.
zcash is a store of value the same way bitcoin is. same core security model in principle and with tycheon it will be lighter to run which improves long term decentralization. the difference is that it protects value in a private form at rest. that is the differentiator.
if you are a serious holder you actually want the price to rise because the store of value narrative only works if the asset grows or at least holds value. the right narrative is private store of value not “privacy coin.”
gentlemen
make sure to not celebrate the acceleration of privacy and returning to crypto ideals
instead, please spend all of your time claiming that <my privacy> is god and <your privacy> is a scam
the pie is too large, we should aim to be a bit more 0 sum here
I never shilled anything as hard as I'm shilling ZEC.
Because there is literally no downside for me.
We are already living in a financial dystopia, it's just that most of you still think that if your BTC goes up enough you will be able to buy yourself out of the system.
You won't.
I have spent an entire work week in order to open a bank account so I can spend my orange coin on a house.
Wet signed KYC and AML forms until I felt sick.
Writing scripts to talk to blockchain explorers in order to prove source of funds.
A couple of million won't get you out of that bullshit.
You would need tens of millions so you can hire your own family office that abstracts all that bullshit away from you.
And then your PA talks to your lawyer that talks to the accountant that talks to the bank — fun!
The financial system is rotten to the core and needs to be rebuild from the ground up with privacy at the base lawyer.
And with AI that privacy layer be better fucking perfect.
Ledger indistinguishability. Planetary scale on L1.
Now please stop with the LARPing, the Saylor worship, and DAT circle jerking and encrypt some of your Bitcoin.
Financial dystopia will still be waiting for you when you are done.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
That last sentence in Frank’s tweet runs deep. I think it’s basically the anti-thesis of Kyle Samani’s thesis that “privacy is just a feature, not a product”. Time will tell!
Of course there were always cypherpunks building various projects, but it felt always niche.
This time it feels different.
And since this is privacy tech you can also invest in, it has great potential to be self-reinforcing.
