@GreyAlien This feels like one of those comics:
"Why do game companies only make sequels?"
"I know, I'll start an indie studio and make original games."
"That's interesting, when I release a new game, I get a boost in sales for my old games."
"Oh no..."
📣 After 2+ years of development, I'm so happy to announce a launch date for Detective Dotson. Coming to Steam on April 3, 2025. Here's an all new trailer to celebrate! 📣
@ImpossibleScott@lorenschmidt Is there a CRDT scheme that doesn't just stomp work? Or is the assumption you just disallow offline work and everything is live always? Or I'd guess another option is explicit checkouts. My thinking on this always starts in some direction and ends up back w/ version control...
@eric_lang This article opened my eyes to how much I was using 'just' everywhere. It also calls out simple, merely, of course, naturally, and obviously.

Walmart is replacing the price stickers with electronic shelf labels across 2,300 stores — which could be a precursor to surge pricing.
One industry analyst says: “If it’s hot outside, we can raise the price of water and ice cream."

@twnick Interesting. I'm not super attached, but 4 of the 5 random codebases I just sampled use int * (quake, clang, blender, linux) vs 1 that uses int* (chromium), not to mention windows uses int * (at least the 3 headers I sampled). Odd the default seems to not be the default.
When I started programming, I went crazy on customizing my editor.
Around 5 years in or so, I stopped and just used defaults. This has worked well for 20 years.
Until VS 2022. The default auto-corrects int *x; to int* x;
Do I go back to customizing, or change my coding style?
@GreyAlien 'Slightly profitable' might be a bit varied too, could mean:
exceeds fixed expenses
ramen profitable
equiv to gamedev salary(s)
equiv to non-gamedev salary(s)
I'll admit I've used all these definitions to justify (or delude) my decisions over the years.
@gengelstein I think neither, it was defined.
You could be generous and expand 'invented' to include 'defined', but someone saying "I invented a teleporter" would most likely imply more than definition in most contexts, so it seems an important distinction.
