I haven’t seen anyone talking about the impact on “cash flow” during the HST holiday. Maybe businesses haven’t come to realize how much they’re going to miss collecting HST while they have to continue paying HST on rent, utilities etc. @CFIB

The Federal government is sitting on $2.5 billion in carbon tax revenue that has been collected since 2019 with promises to return it to small businesses, as a small part of what they have paid.

Despite the fact that small businesses in all sectors in affected provinces have been paying it for 5 years, the feds are still designing programs to return it to a handful of sectors only (emissions-intensive & trade-exposed.

With other green programs in full scandal, I have little confidence this will be done properly. The $2.5 billion should be immediately returned to all small businesses paying the tax through a simple rebate or tax reduction. Or hey, how about using it to cover another year extension to #CEBA loans?

My direct flight on @AirCanada from Austin to Toronto that was cancelled yesterday has been rebooked for today through Chicago with a 3 1/2 hour layover. Fingers are crossed I can get home tonight.

A weekend away to Austin. Awesome. The only negative has been @AirCanada. A four hour delay leaving Toronto Friday and a cancelled flight home last night. I know the world is dealing with staff shortages but a cancelled flight is over promising and under delivering.
