🌱 Planting Hope, Healing Lives🌳

Today, in partnership with the @forestrycom1 and the dedicated staff of Mt Selinda Mission Hospital, Green Institute proudly planted 96 trees to establish a hospital orchard under the @FAOZimbabwe Transboundary Integrated Sustainable Management of Miombo Woodlands Project.

This orchard is more than just trees in the soil it is a living symbol of care, resilience, and renewal. It will nourish hospital staff, students, and patients with fresh fruit, while also serving as a vital carbon sinks to protect our climate. Each tree stands as a promise of health, shade, and sustainability, reminding us that healing is not only found in medicine but also in the embrace of nature.

Together, we are sowing seeds of hope that will grow into a greener tomorrow for Mt Selinda Hospital and beyond. 🌍💚

🌍 Green Institute on SARCOF‑33 Outcomes: From Observation to Action 🌱

The Thirty‑Third Southern Africa Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF‑33), hosted in Swakopmund, Namibia, has set a strong tone for regional preparedness. By emphasizing the shift from climate observation to seasonal prediction, the Forum reminded us that information alone is not enough it must drive early warning, preparedness, and timely action.

As Green Institute, we welcome SADC’s strengthened commitment to climate resilience. The call for greater investment in meteorological services and multi‑hazard early warning systems is urgent. Communities across Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, face increasing risks from El Niño, droughts, floods, and cyclones. Protecting lives and livelihoods requires:

- Investment in meteorology: Adequately funding National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to ensure reliable forecasts.

- Regional cooperation:
Sharing knowledge, tools, and resources across borders to strengthen collective resilience.

- Community‑level preparedness: Translating forecasts into accessible information that empowers households, farmers, and local leaders to act early.

- Integration into planning:
Ensuring climate data informs policies on agriculture, infrastructure, water, and disaster management.

Hon. Veikko Nekundi rightly noted that investment in meteorology is an investment in human security and development. Green Institute echoes this call: climate information must be transformed into action that protects tomorrow, today.

Together, we can build a region where early warning saves lives, preparedness strengthens resilience, and climate justice guides development. 💚✨

🌳 Growing Resilience, One Tree at a Time 🌍

On behalf of the Chipinge District Ward 19 community, we are proud to announce the arrival of 8 000 fruit trees from @FAOZimbabwe to be planted across the ward creating vibrant fruit orchards under the Transboundary Integrated Sustainable Management of the Miombo Woodlands Project.

These orchards are more than just a source of fruit; they represent community resilience, food security, and sustainable livelihoods. Each tree planted is a promise of nourishment, shade, and opportunity for generations to come. Beyond the harvest, the orchards will provide a steady supply of rootstocks for the nursery to be established at Muwango Agriculture Hub, ensuring continuity and growth for future farmers.

Together, we are turning dry land into living hope — building a greener, stronger, and more self‑reliant Ward 19. 🌱💪
