Profoundly awesome thing for computational science:
You can automatically get chi-squared contours with jax and inverting the Fisher matrix, with ONE function evaluation.

In case you haven't heard yet, I'm running for Mayor of Bremerton! I've been humbled by so many asking me to do so, and the support I've gotten from friends, family, neighbors, and so many current and former public servants in our city.
For only the 2nd time ever, renewables met more than 75% of demand and carbon free sources (renewables & nuclear) made up 86% in ERCOT. Renewables could have provided more but were curtailed; note how the top of the cowboy hat curve is lopped off. More than enough for 100% today.
A follow-up campaign is ongoing where citizen astronomers can observe the Gaia spacecraft. Interested? 👉https://t.co/q2WHKnbKHx Shown below the Gaia spacecraft as observed from Germany by A. Wrede. Also interested to observe Gaia? More info here: https://t.co/VEQLM5kCYe
Know Thy Star, Know Thy Planet 2 kicks off today!
A follow-on to the successful Know Thy Star conference held in 2017, #KnowThyStar2 welcomes almost 200 registrants to @Caltech for some stellar discussion on exoplanet science. 💫🤩✨Talks will be posted to YouTube next week!

Google Cloud just recently released "The PyTorch developer's guide to JAX fundamentals".
Contains a side-by-side implementation of a training loop in both Pytorch and JAX + Flax NNX sor those interested in exploring the JAX world in familiar terms.
A colleague inspired me to explore how programming languages have evolved in astronomy, especially since we've been curating astronomical literature.
Fascinating.
If there's a Uri-like storm this winter, outages would be less severe bc we have more solar + storage & weatherization of power plants is better but we'd still have outages bc we haven't made much progress on gas supply weatherization or energy efficiency.

The graphic below is from the @FastCompany article @GovAbbott cited. Truly extraordinary what is happening here, particularly with the solar and storage buildout. One out of every 14 jobs posted in Texas this summer was in clean energy. #txlege#txenergy#energytwitter
