SFI, DYFI and other Left mass organizations jointly organized a huge people’s march in Nagarnausa, Bihar, demanding the release of 39 student activists including SFI Bihar State President Kanti Kumari and Nalanda District Secretary Savitri Kumari. On 18 June, the students were brutally dragged, assaulted and arrested by the Bihar Police during a peaceful protest demanding a degree college in Nalanda. They have been in jail for over 20 days.

The protesters marched to the same spot where Kanti Kumari and her fellow students were arrested. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Amra Ram, Bihar State Secretary Lallan Choudhury, State Secretariat member Ajay Kumar, MLA, SFI General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharyya, and other senior leaders led the march. Thousands of people gathered to demand the immediate release of the jailed students.

Despite documents emerging that the Adani Group had written to SEBI seeking approval for the stake transfer, the state government continues to hesitate in addressing Kerala's concerns. The government should have immediately informed SEBI that the company had neither obtained the state's mandatory prior approval for the stake transfer, as required under its agreement with the government, nor made a complete disclosure before the regulator. This lapse must not result in Kerala's interests being compromised.

Highlighting these serious issues, I have written to SEBI requesting appropriate action. The Opposition will challenge the government's collusion both legally and politically. The letter urges SEBI to seek an explanation from the Adani Group regarding its application for the stake transfer, since it failed to obtain the prior approval of the Kerala government and did not comply with the applicable SEBI regulations.

Clause 5.3.1 of the concession agreement signed between the Adani Group and the Kerala government clearly states that any transfer of more than 25% of the shareholding, whether individually or collectively, also requires the government's prior approval. It further states that the Adani Group cannot transfer ownership, either wholly or through a share transfer, without the prior approval of the Kerala government. The concession agreement also stipulates that any approval must be granted only after safeguarding national security and the public interest. These concerns have been specifically highlighted in my letter.
