@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W4 A4: I feel like we need to have conversations about how to take the focus off of control. We can support children without making it a struggle for control.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W4 A3: My goal for this year is to be happier. I can get easily sucked into the negative. I plan to surround myself with a positive support network.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W4 A2: I need to just remember that healing through the arts is an option some children can benefit from. Just because it isn't a part of my healing plan, doesn't mean I couldn't make it a part of our day to help someone else.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W4 A1: In the past I did more planned ignoring. I plan to work on staying calm and physically and emotionally being a part of the crisis. I also have to work on waiting to talk through things.
@sam_kraushaar That is so true! Aug-May I'm connecting with my immediate family and work family. June & July I reconnect with those people I don't see everyday!
@HannahDutton8#livewell323#323learns Week 8: For the past 18 years, I've spent a day each summer reconnecting with 4 friends that I used to teach with. I look forward to that day each summer and come away feeling refreshed! Everyone should do it!
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W4A4: I think we need to have conversations about control. Many of us struggle with "just do it because it's the expectation" vs. "let's have a conversation about what happened and why". Make sense?
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W3A3 I think students greatly appreciate and respond well to the involvement and choice. We are all getting better at this. I think it will take some training to involve other friends.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W3A2: Kindness centers, turn & celebrate, kind & encouraging self-talk - I feel like I could implement these as a part of our natural day & impact each student!
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W3A1: It was a good reminder that, "We must show our students that we carve out time and energy for teaching kindness because we believe in its importance and its value in our lives and theirs." Actions speak louder than words!
@HannahDutton8#323learns#livewell323 Spent some time earlier this week getting order in my kitchen! Each week I try to organize an area that often gets overlooked!
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W2 A4: I think these kids need to feel connection. I liked the ides of Teachers in Training. I think I want to work on implementing this at my school.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W2 A3: Because we are a smaller building in numbers, it is easier for us to provide that feeling of belonging. We did the names & dots activity to see if we were connecting with all kids. I think we could do more with celebrating diversity.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W2 A2: I think "belonging" resonates the most with me. Personally, if I feel I belong then you are going to get much more productivity out of me. I think kids are the same way!
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323 W2 A1: I would say yes our students feel belonging. I personally make it my mission to go above & beyond with the challenging ones.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323#dgsroyals The research of the connection between 30 minutes of exercise and happiness was kind of a slap in my face. I need to move more! I currently read and hang out with friends.
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323#dgsroyals Admitting we have rocks and/or helping students find their rocks is where I would start. Then, I would work on sharing my rocks and allowing students to feel comfortable sharing their rocks!
@alyssacabhart#323learns#belonging323#dgsroyals The expectations of our school world have changed! We expect students to come to school knowing much more than we used to. This often turns into anxiety in kids . Students can turn this into a behavior issue.
