@Watson_SLdn Major League Baseball predates the oldest soccer league by a decade, and has multiple 100+ year old stadiums. It has far more history than any soccer league.
@Ace12Adam The worst part for Russell is that it hasn’t even been like Kimi is racing flawlessly. He hasn’t, he’s made mistakes, but the car’s been good enough to bail him out.
@mgmtarham When this was built 65 years ago the land in the area was very cheap, so there was no reason to do anything else. To replace it now would take a few years, making it harder for people to get to the games, it would cost a ton, and they already make $50M-$100M per year off the lot.
@jc_bradbury I could see a situation where you might want to lock in your costs at a higher than current price if you expected them to go up even more. For a mid-market team, I could see them willing to share more of the profit if it meant they didn't have to try and keep up with the Dodgers.
@daveyapps@garcon_com70968@VinceInPrague Important to point out that the Subway bread in the UK is quite a bit sweeter than the Subway bread in the US:

@Miluju_Xialiang@RudeOnion You obviously don’t have teenagers living in your house. If I had to shop every day I’d be bringing something heavy home every time. Milk, watermelon, protein powder, roasts, you name it. Kids will eat you out of house and home.
@elsathorslund@raygretts That said, everywhere I’ve been in the world I’ve felt that people were more similar than different. Differences are overblown.
@elsathorslund@raygretts Not trying to one up, it’s just that the cultural differences between contents is so much bigger than between countries. I felt more “at home” in Germany than when I’m 5 or 6 miles from my actual home. There is a broader European culture that overwhelms the county differences.
@AndThatsBB I’m not a cap/floor fan, but clearly even if Ohtani signed with the Dodgers someone else would have had to leave. Their payroll is almost double the suggested cap. The 1-B FAs like Tucker, Snell, Diaz, or Glasnow would have signed somewhere else.
@KeithTalentless We actually got over a foot of snow in New Orleans one day last year. It was the most since the 1800s. The freeway was plowed that day because they brought in a few from other areas before the storm.
@chriswithans The nice thing about a floor is that I think it will makenit more likely for small market teams to keep their hime grown talent. If you’re in a rebuild, but you have a Paul Skenes or Gunner Henderson it makes it a lot more likely they’ll get extended for a long term deal.
@AZinCLE@sgodofsk For sports with lots of games, like baseball, that is a pretty common customer for them. Weeknight games tend to be full of fans wearing suits and business casual.
There’s no real point in putting a football stadium downtown though.
