Street Cleansing team out early in Bournemouth Town Centre this morning as every day, clearing away the waste left by visitors yesterday. Sad that so many think its OK to drop litter as they go @BCPCouncil
"itโs the number of cars on the road that causes congestion, not the speed they travel at" Absolutely, and in a busy urban space, pedestrians need priority.
Great to meet @lmshoaf and Robin Gisby at the Bournemouth Traincare Depot today, Chair and Chief Exec of the DFT Operator for GBrail. Laura said she intents to strongly represent the passenger perspective, which has been sadly lacking in privatised operator period @transportgovuk
@Dan_Peck Dan, the strategy has been approved, we haven't secured funding to plant, revenue budgets are very tight. Hope to work with other agencies, and also to promote an "adopt a tree" sponsorship. As much about early watering and care as the buying of the tree.
@Marcos_Melhuish @rubbishpodcast @BCPCouncil Yes, the additional trucks we will need have been ordered. There is much work to do in rebalancing rounds, and working with the teams on this, but that date is the Government set target. which the council are aiming to meet.
@theHREgroup@BCPCouncil As far as I know, its still owned by Network Rail. I recently asked them whether useful in context of Dorset Metro - increasing rail across area by +1 or +2 trains per hour. Answer was "potentially, yes".
@jonburkeUK This looks like the Sheffield stand installations that take no account of the need to accomodate 2 wheels. Need a sensible gap to the barrier/wall/window to be able to secure bikes to stand. Bench also handy for enjoying the shade.
Great to be at #DorsetCOP2024 today, opened by @JessicaToale and Prof Alison Honour @bournemouthuni Shared the inequity across Dorset on car ownership, not every household has access to vehicles, espsecially in urban centres (Weymouth in picture). Need travel choices for all.
Interesting yesterday, meeting Miss Dibbens great niece, looking to get her shop & yard back into use - itching to run a flower shop, cheesemonger, delicatessen or similar ?
To Poole Bus Station, totems now installed to brighten the space & improve security. @AndrewWickhamGo
Great to see two eCargo bikes for deliveries along the @BCPCouncil seafront. Much narrower than Diesel vans, but also Zedify say"Cargo bikes save an average of 95% and 82% more carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) per kilometre than diesel vans and electric vans respectively"
@VikkiSlade72@ConorBurnsUK Oh its worse than that, they are currently "gathering evidence" about reducing the fines for moving traffic offences, obstructing yellow boxes and bus lanes, and parking offences, and taking supposed "profits" from LAs back to treasury rather than spend it on reducing problems
Good interactive mapping from Wessex Water on monitoring storm overflows across the region. Half of their catchment area feeds to the two harbours in @BCPCouncil area and out onto our coastline https://t.co/bsnXlFdnBJ
@DaddyGardener80 @LesleyMDedman@fartycat@JoeSalmonBmouth Questions, statements and petitions can be given by members of public to BCP Council, Cabinet and other meetings held in public. Shouting from the Gallery on issues that we have no control over is not the way. The process is a bit arcane, and chamber is not great for viewing.
@richardwakelin3@VikkiSlade72 @DaddyGardener80 @CalmHolmes@BCPCouncil@Tobias_Ellwood Richard, the numbers are not easy to unpick. Potholes sit within Environment, major structural work within Transportation, the two work together, but the previous administration avoided sharing details. Materials costs growing. Plans for this years fund (may change) are as below:
A bit of clarity this week from Perenco on the leak at Wytch Farm, and their work to prevent recurrence. https://t.co/2qmNReIOrF in a liaison meeting for local Councillors
