It's quite the conservative state, focused on tradition, very federalised strict immigration. It would be similar to the current Switzerland, just bigger and more impactful.

@DomonkosLendvay @sergiowct @seatsixtyone @EuropeanSlpr No main line in east-west direction. But south to north it was historically really well connected with trains from Switzerland to the Belgian coast or trains to the Mediterranean.

For cargo it's still really important for the North Sea- Switzerland/Nancy/Metz/Lyon corridor.

@sergiowct @FlorisvB @seatsixtyone @EuropeanSlpr There's one direct Lux - Bruxelles every hour and it doesn't need 4 hours, it's 3 hours 17min. And it will be even shorter in the future when the Arlon - Namur section is fully upgraded when there are trains that skip more stations.

@ClosertoSpace I sometimes see the blue europe regiolis running with diesel only and pantographs down on the Strasbourg Sélestat service or the Mulhouse Belfort service. For the X73500 I understand, if you have to drive the route anyway,why not take some passengers with it.

Many of them may be nice people, but looking at rape statistics of European countries, they are highly overrepresented.

@rxquejunixr @Imperivivus @CaudilloXIV North Africa was always historically, and culturally way closer tied to Europe than it was to sub Sahara Africa. It's way easier to cross the Mediterranean than the Sahara desert.
