Is Post-Post-Modernism next?
Each generations seems to create its new movement, each one trying to diverge from the past yet break new ground. I welcome the return of the union between culture and art, especially with how it all relates to climate change.
@DestineyisHere7@USAOWTC It really is pretty interesting. I feel like we've gone full circle at this point and have a lot of artists pointedly trying to hit the these topics today.

It's interesting how the common modern critique of pop music being formulaic isn't new, how even back into the early 1900s and probably farther people were not only complaining about it but making guides on how to pander to those popular formulas!

Butler makes a great point in that one of the basest tenets of society up until recently has always been a woven fabric rather than a natural fur.

He is very thorough in his arguments, and the way he talks about the beauty of nature is quite charming, especially given the subject matter. You can tell that he knew he would face some kickback from this, and wanted to be as persuasive as possible.

The part where he says that every painter is expected to be everything at once and a master at all resonates with me. With the internet its easy to feel the same today with most things.

Freud talks about how civilization exists to simply curb our aggressive tendencies and I think I agree on the small scale. Wars are surely much more aggressive and deadly than we could've done without civilization however.

I find it kind of funny how weebs even existed back then, completely with the study of "Manga". (Technically different but still)
Guess #WTCimp's existed back then too

With realism, some would say we lost the wonder of the old styles, but I would say we actually fell more in love with the world itself! We were no longer escaping to a disconnected realm but finally appreciating the world for how it is.

The 'Monster' has a pretty sad story. Created without consent and then being driven out to live by itself? That's a pretty horrible thing to do to someone.

It certainly must've taken a huge measure of courage to send that pamphlet, when it goes so directly counter to all of the university's beliefs. Shelly's father must've been appalled.
