Choose wisdom over violence. Choose dialogue over destruction. Choose humanity over hatred. Choose peace before more lives are lost.
Peace for the people of Tigray. Peace for the people of Ethiopia.
No more war
The resurgence of armed conflict is a heartbreaking tragedy. My heart is heavy for every innocent life that may once again be caught in this conflict. It is heartbreaking when those in positions of power choose violence over dialogue while ordinary families bear the cost.
Every child lost is someone’s son or daughter. Every life matters. If you believe war is the only solution, then lead from the front yourselves. Do not ask young people and innocent civilians to bear the cost while families mourn the loss of their loved ones.
Do not ask the mothers of Tigray and Ethiopia to send their sons and daughters to the battlefield to fight and kill one another. No political disagreement is worth the lives of young people or the suffering of innocent civilians. Every life lost leaves a family forever changed.
War is not the answer.
To the leaders of TPLF and the Prosperity Party (PP), and to every commander with influence over this conflict: Before another mother sheds tears for a child lost to war, let dialogue be given every possible chance.
Every Ethiopian claim on history, religion & culture are mainly from #Tigray:
-the oldest nation is #Axum
-the first #Christian nation is Axum
-Home of the Ark of the Covenant is Axum
-Ge’ez script started in Axum
-an Axumite Christian king welcomed first #Muslim refugees
-first anti Colonial struggle in #Africa started by Emperor Yohannes & Ras Alula
-and many more
Ethiopia is appropriating these & many more Tigrayan contributions, yet export war, famine & destructions to Tigray.
Recently, the current Ethiopian regime in collaboration with foreign forces, carried out #TigrayGenocide including the #AxumMassacre.

We, therefore, call upon @PMAbiy to once again instruct his Government to fulfil its obligations to its own citizens & help avert a looming catastrophe. We also call upon the international community to fulfill its moral obligations by providing sufficient aid without delay.
