The Implementation Support Mission of the @HOPE_GOV Program entered its fourth day, with participating states joining both physically and virtually. The hybrid format has continued to enable broad engagement from states as they work toward meeting the Program’s requirements and strengthening reforms in basic education and primary healthcare.

Notably, the @DSGovernment delegation - comprising representatives from all implementing agencies - attended the session in person. A team from the @OfficialFCTA and a representative from @Zamfara_state were also physically present, which underscores the commitment of the FCT and these states to the success of the mission and the Program at large.

The ongoing interaction with states is aimed at identifying challenges encountered in the implementation process, with a view to providing technical support that will facilitate progress toward achieving the Disbursement Linked Results.

The @HOPE_GOV Program is designed to strengthen governance structures within the basic education and primary healthcare sectors, thereby ensuring more efficient service delivery and contributing significantly to improvements in Nigeria’s Human Capital Index. Effective implementation at the state level is therefore central to attaining these national development priorities.

As part of the mission, the @WorldBank team has conducted an interim review of Program implementation across the states, based on the data and documentation uploaded to the online platform by each state. The feedback to be provided during this mission will be general in nature, focusing on cross-cutting issues rather than state-specific assessments.

Meanwhile, the National Program Coordinating Unit (NPCU) is finalizing arrangements for the engagement of Interim Verification Agents who will carry out the Year Zero verification exercise across all states. In addition, consultants will soon be hired to offer technical assistance to states, as a deliberate effort to further enhance the quality and consistency of Program implementation.
