Absolutely essential documentary. This is what we are facing. This is the reality. This is not a hoax, or a political ploy. This is us. This is our society. This affects all of us. Thank you @nytimes for this. #covid#MaskUp#StayHome https://t.co/Y8RP90ToKr
@silv24 I’m more than a body with a vagina.
I’m more than a human who menstruates.
I’m more than an organism without a Y chromosome.
I’m a woman.
That shouldn’t be a dirty word, and @TheLancet needs to realise how “erasing” their choice of wording is.
The Britney story is an illustration of why so many people are still scared to be honest about their mental health situation. There are always people out there who could gaslight you or use it against you. The idea that mental illness gives away your right to be a full person.
1/ After a suicide attempt in 2020, Dr. Justin Bullock was put through a dehumanizing, month-long assessment by his employer.
It's part of a larger problem of stigma around mental health in the medical field that needs to change:

Grief doesn’t just apply to death. We grieve when people are no longer in our lives. We grieve wishes and dreams that never came to pass. We grieve ideas that never fully materialized. We grieve how relationships used to be or what we wanted to be. We grieve our old selves.
@NotSoLocalHero@PMalfurious @daddoesdiy41 @jo_bazz Thank you for weighing in. I can now recount this story with 'a professional recruiter advised against this.' Many thanks!
@NotSoLocalHero@PMalfurious @daddoesdiy41 @jo_bazz Thank you, this is validating. They tried to convince me this was standard in the region/business at the time. I have never seen it since. It remains the only time I have ever walked out of an interview.
@OzarkSkiing @NotSoLocalHero@PMalfurious @daddoesdiy41 @jo_bazz Further details: it was otherwise reputable, established for several years. This was many years ago. I progressed along the interview stages, they presented a contract, I read this, went back in to clarify, physically stood up and left mid-meeting. I never worked for them.
@olsonplanner Mr. Olson, I believe you had good intentions with this thought and your handling of the thread certainly speaks to high quality of character.
There needs to be room on this bird app to hear, learn, respond & grow. This thread is evidence of what that can look like. Bravo.
@olsonplanner I think this is in reference to a previous horrible contract example, that deducted pay if you had kids.
Maybe the thought process of "more kids = needs more money to raise kids" could be directed towards promoting universal childcare subsidies?
@NotSoLocalHero@PMalfurious @daddoesdiy41 @jo_bazz This is so interesting, thanks for shedding some light on the recruiters side!
Can I ask a side question? I once got to higher level interviews before the company told me they expected me to pay the $30K recruiter's fee (I walked out at that point) Have you ever heard of this?
@fuzzymittens There are options other than euthanasia if you dont feel comfortable with it. We did home hospice & she died naturally. We were fortunate to be in a position where we could have someone always with our pet to carry out for pee breaks, rearrange pillows, give water, treats, etc.
