@Ben_Yoel@stefen_rosner The year is 2032. Nolan McLean has finished the season with a 2.47 ERA, edging out Cam Schlittler with a 2.56 ERA. McLean gains 0.2 WAR on Schlittler for the year, clawing his way back to a mere 17 career WAR behind the Yankees' ace. Ben Yoel - prophet?
@HoernerMVP @terribletakes28 a homer is worth 1.4 runs and a win is worth around 10 runs. So 3.8 context neutral WAR but because you can leverage for pinch hitting he'll probably be worth around 50% on top because you're only going to use him in high leverage situations once a week. So maybe ~6 real wins?
@ZacGold24@TJStats fip is a measure of value and then they scale it to era. when it goes negative it loses the fit to era (but still measures value in the same way).
@Dave41605737145@bartlebytaco In EWS, they have a lot of shots to make Tom Cruise look short as fuck to highlight insecurities and anxieties. In a typical movie you'd be correct, but Kubrick was specifically playing around with Cruise's perception if you're paying close attention.
@LemanWalters It's because Cuaron and Inarritu were pushing the style with incredible shots in incredible movies so it became trendy, because artists borrow from the best. It's a trend of the time period, not of the generation. It's not like Kurosawa is "boomer trope" or WKW is milennial trope
@slime_machine After a Boston local or smashfest in 2007 we all went to see Transformer, and at dinner I was trying to explain how it kind of marked the advent of the unburdened CGI camera and how it was going to change everything but they just weren't ready for the future, man
@haalasback You'll notice the car hits him not only from his blind spot, but also the camera - our - blindspot. It's not punishment, it's the flow of indifferent chaos in that particular universe.
@haalasback Because no single man is greater than the confluence of coincidences that combine to form an instant. Chigurh is exceptionally meticulous and leverages luck with personal excellence. Even in the crash, he observes the kids on the bike while correctly observing the traffic light.
@PracticalTAS This is akin to a marketing team not wanting the development team to implement something because it interferes with their ad campaign. Their entire job exists in service of the actual product, the ad is not the product itself. Of course it sucks but it's a matter of priorities.
@NkGuy1 @FictionIRL So with a high input character like Fox that flies across the screen, he not only causes frequent rollbacks, but also long distance teleports because he move so far in such a short period of time. 3/3
@NkGuy1 @FictionIRL Basically if your ping is ~34-50 (3 frames) you're going to have 1 frame of rollback for every new input, ~51-67 (4 frames) 2 frames, and so on. 2/
