Leopards are adaptable, but their hunting success is quite low. Only one of every 3-6 attacks ends up with prey killing. Further, leopards can remain hungry if disturbed during the hunt, driven away from a kill, or carcasses of domestic prey are removed.
The #persianleopard (Panthera pardus tulliana) in Iraqi Kurdistan lives mainly in the Bamo, Qara Dagh and Khoshk Mts. Its population is very small (e.g., seven in Bamo) but poaching is rampant. Organizations like @LeopardsBeyond are crucial for #persianleopard survival.
