If your email cadence has 3 emails that just say:
- is this not a priority for you?
- should i stop emailing you?
- should i close this out?
and i havent responded to the 6 emails prior, the answer is yes and you're going to spam
im in sales and i get it. cold email can generate pipeline.
so i don't want to mark stuff as spam since that hurts your ability to do this and there might be people interested in your service
but good GOD the quality of email outbound is dogshit in the age of AI
Underrated capability of @bot - doing things in-app automatically.
It's still crazy to me that if i create or iterate on a skill in claude in-app, the only part i cant automate about it is actually uploading it to claude.
Honestly, if you’ve enabled this I need you to disclose it to me before we keep texting. Have you given ChatGPT access to our entire text history with each other?
This seems deeply at odds with Apple’s promotion of iMessage as a secure platform.
The thing I miss the most about coding by hand is the clarity.
You knew exactly what lives in which file, why you wrote a specific line, why you rewrote the other one, why you used this library.
You still can have such awareness, but it’s harder since everything happens faster
While this may be true by the numbers, it's missing two critical points for career success.
Product proficiency and reputation.
1. IMO it takes at least 1 year to be *good* at your job, relative to your own potential. I've seen people come in and lead sales floors within 3 months. This was nothing compared to where they were after 1 year.
When someone becomes proficient at their specific company's offering, their ability to sell skyrockets.
2. Reputation-wise, if you've never been at a job longer than 2 years, I'm not hiring you.
I'm not wasting 3+ months ramping and 3 more handholding someone who *maybe* turns out to be good, just for them to leave 6 months later.
This does not apply to applicants that have <2 years working experience.
The average raise for staying where you are this year is around 3.4%. The average raise for changing companies is about 14.8%.
So one move is worth roughly four years of sitting still.
The headlines will tell you job hopping doesn't pay like it used to, and that's fair, the premium is about a third of what it was in 2021. But smaller than 2021 isn't the same as gone. 14.8% is still four times what your annual review is going to hand you.
Nobody's being disloyal for noticing that. Your company already budgeted 3.4% for you before the year started🏹
