So blessed to have received a Mayor's and carer awards panel award for my role as Admiral Nurse in Dudley this evening, as part of the carers awards. Even more blessed to have the best AN colleague in Dudley 💗💗
Also pleased to hear that my Msc portfolio has been accepted and a recommendation of FHEA will be submitted to the Advance HE panel 🎉
Now its time to get on with the dissertation 😅😅
Happy days! I had the opportunity to cohost and talk about student-led clinics in clinical practice during the UoM MNurs Innovation Showcase today!
I was also really pleased to talk about the incredible work from Dana Colbourne (SMiLE) & @dan_warrender (#MHDeservesBetter)
Great SPOKE day with @GMMH_NHS at their #IND conference (a lovely invite from the practice education team) Highlight was without a doubt the fantastic talk from @dan_warrender Hopefully more students can get involved in these events in the future 🤔 #MHDeservesBetter
@pash22@NICEComms@BlottMaggie@susan_bewley@jimgthornton@catherineroyuk@drruthannharpur This is based on 1 paper which suggests it’s works. It is relief ONLY from the lower back pain of component labour - not any other pain such as uterine contractions.
Lots of missing data beyond 30min interval.
There was no reduction in need for N20, opioids or epidural
New event from GMMH’s Mental Health Nursing Research Unit. Improving physical health outcomes for people experiencing psychosis is an important but often neglected topic. Come along and find out more.
We are still looking for inpatient mental health staff for our research advisory group. The project is focused on staff experiences of workplace trauma. See flyer for more details on what is involved and how to sign up.
Nurses will now get the lowest pay rises in the public sector after ministers agreed to increases of at least 6% for millions of other workers.
What do you think?

UPDATE 6/6/23. @nmcnews and the chief nursing officers have responded to our open letter regarding dissatisfaction with mental health nurse education, which we released in the @NursingTimes on @MHnursesday 2023 (original letter posted in this tweet): (1/7) #MHDeservesBetter
This is an intentional attempt to try and mislead the public.
Thanks to the efforts of our consultant and SAS colleagues to keep patients safe, there was no change in mortality trends during strike action.
3/3
Despite @Telegraph claims their innumerate use of data doesn't show an increase due to strike action
They also claim the excess death rate in England had tripled compared to the 2 weeks before strikes. True, but in Wales it was the same – triple
Correlation is not causation 2/3
Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average.
What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3
A great example to illustrate there is no such thing as junk food. Context is everything. In hospitals processed hyperpalatable foods can be life savers.
@essexsarahlee As an MH student this is how I feel, constantly task oriented looking to tick off skills. Another strange one is 2.17 Recognise and respond to challenging behaviour, providing appropriate safe holding and restraint. Students are not trained/meant to carry out restraint
