I think the entire quarter of #NUTR547 can be wrapped up by @KimberleyyKale’s motto: “treat the patient, not the disease” 👊🏻 no matter what issue we are dealing with as RD’s, our advice needs to be tailored to the patient/client!
two summers ago I lived in the tourist center of Florence which was packed with gelato, pizza, deep-fried risotto balls, pastries, etc...it would be interesting to compare health outcomes such as cancer incidence in the touristy vs. rural areas of Mediterranean countries!#NUTR547
@dgoins90's presentation was a great reminder to check my bias! I'll admit that as a barista, I used to silently judge customers who ordered breves (lattes made with half+half), but who am I to say that they can't choose the higher-fat option if they prefer the taste? #NUTR547
here’s the article I mentioned in class re: fecal transplants! it’s a bit of a long read but absolutely fascinating. disclaimer: do not try this at home (like he did) 💩 #NUTR547

did you all hear about the recent controversy with Kim K and the appetite suppressant lollipops? she’s encouraging the exact opposite of intuitive eating to her 100 million+ followers. I was fuming 😤 #NUTR547
@emilykilham_ love the quote "You are not a bad person for soothing your feelings with a food that brings you distraction, pleasure, numbness, satisfaction, or anything else." ❤️
The appalling pictures on the news of malnutrition in Yemen should act as a very stark reminder of how fortunate we are to have the choice to worry about individual macronutrients.
Food fads are a first world privilege.
Just be thankful you’re not hungry.
do you think astronauts returning from space might experience issues with binge eating due to the sudden increase in food variety/availability?#NUTR547
@dreadlockmimi great point!! I did a food study abroad program in Tuscany a couple summers ago and that was one of the main takeaways I had from that experience. the Italians are *very* strict...eg parmaggiano-reggiano cheese can’t be labeled as such unless it was produced in the Parma region!
in 2015, several European countries voted to ban GMO crops 🚫 why do you think this legislation was able to pass in those countries and not in the US? #NUTR547
