Many argue that it should be far higher.

In my view, it is preposterous that there is no local Indian rating agency that can rate sovereign debt.

Japan has a local ratings agency that rates sovereign debt. It's called Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCRA).

So does China. It's called China Chengxin International Credit Rating (CCXI)

So why does India not have at least one?
