Teleport yourself to any era in history and you will find, most of the contemporary literature / art complains about how their time is the worst. Naturally people yield to the great force of pessimism. Yet in hindsight we remember Odyssey over the bronze age collapse, Shakespeare over the plagues, Disney cartoons over WW2, Michael Jackson over the 70s stagflation.

I think thats enough evidence to conclude, the greatest art will always symbolize hope. It is in the darkness that the indomitable human spirit must emerge and shine through.
