“The true secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life.” - William Morris, designer, writer and pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement, died #OnThisDay in 1896.
William Morris and his work have long been associated with the V&A. In 1865, his company was commissioned to design the West Dining Room at the museum, which features early examples of a number of the organic patterns that would make his name.
🍓‘Strawberry Thief’, designed in 1883.

Please help us to welcome Lorna Lee, Margaretta Frederick, and Kerri Offord to our Board of Trustees 👏
All bring a specialism in Victorian art and culture, and a wealth of professional experience in running museums and connecting people with collections.
@the_bsr @heartchitecture Absolutely devastating news 😞 Harriet was a brilliant colleague, exceptional talent, and - most importantly - kind, considerate and so, so funny! We will miss her so much xxx

@jessphillips was the PERFECT host - hearing her frustrations over inequality faced by women she serves echo the words of Fawcett over a century ago was so moving… and maddening that things have barely changed for the most vulnerable women in society
Huge thanks to @EmmaMerkling for a wonderful evening at Westminster celebrating women artists, campaigners, and activists with the acquisition of Millicent Fawcett by Annie Swynnerton 🖼️
