ABC News has identified several assertions in the book that appear to be contradicted by what Meadows allegedly told investigators behind closed doors.

When I was a little boy, the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor. It was a surprise attack, and thousands of U.S. servicemembers perished. As a nation, we were stunned. And we vowed to strike back. Revenge was understandably on everyone’s mind, including many Americans of Japanese descent who opposed the emperor and were peaceful and law-abiding U.S. citizens and residents.
In its zeal to exact that revenge, however, the U.S. government overreacted, out of fear and bigotry. They targeted everyone who happened to look like the people who had carried out the attack. Those of us who had done nothing wrong were forced to pay the consequences for the decisions of others far away and disconnected from us. We were interned for years, in open-air prisons, while America went off to fight Japan, Germany and Italy.
It’s so important that we carry the lessons of the past through to today. Merely because one group commits atrocities and acts with depravity does not mean vast hundreds of thousands or even millions of others should be lumped together with them and made to suffer. We must never paint with the brush of justice and retaliation too broadly, or the toll of human suffering will rise immeasurably.
It’s simple. We can fund Ukraine for less than 5% of our entire DoD budget & help stop Putin without a single American boot on the ground. Or we can let Putin win, have him march into NATO territory, then we will HAVE to send troops b/c we are under treaty. It’s a no-brainer.
WOW POWERFUL: In North Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, there is a GenZ high school student who wants to relay a straightforward message to Republicans. He vigorously argues against their choice to diminish our freedoms, showcasing his strong dissatisfaction, and warning Republicans that GenZ is watching.
It should have been over when Donald Trump called Mexicans rapists.
It wasn’t.
It should have been over when he mocked a disabled reporter.
It wasn’t.
Not when he demeaned a POW, attacked a Gold Star family, insulted a military widow, tried to ban Muslims, called women dogs or boasted about being able to shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue.
It should have been over when he bragged about sexual assault.
It wasn’t.
He’s tear gassed peaceful protestors, incited a deadly attack on our Capitol, supported the calls to hang his VP, joked, mocked & lied about Paul Pelosi’s attack, hurled insults not only at judges and prosecutors, but at their families as well.
And it has changed nothing.
Only days ago, he suggested the highest-ranking military officer in our country should be executed.
And no one in his party cared.
His depravity knows no bounds.
The child who threw rocks at babies never grew up.
He is a sociopath.
Devoid of humanity.
Incapable of empathy.
And being able to support him despite or even because of all of the horrible things he’s done, says more about those people than it does about him.

The U.S. moved heaven and earth to bring Osama Bin Laden to justice. Not because he flew an airplane into the World Trade Center — but, because he incited his followers to.
Donald Trump should be held accountable for inciting his followers to attack our nation’s capitol too.

Three words: tax the rich.
I am 55 years old.
America is the only country I've ever known.
And I love my country.
When I was in school, I learned about the horrors of slavery. Sure, it was a limited education, but I totally got the gist of it.
We learned how people were taken from Africa, and how many DIED during the journey here, forced to labor in hot fields while being whipped, raped, deprived of education, and murdered.
In fact, when I was young, there was a mini-series on TV called Roots that depicted the brutality of slavery in horrifyingly explicit detail.
And then I did my OWN research, reading more books and watching more documentaries and movies.
But somehow, I was able to maintain my love of America. Despite all of the cruelty and brutality I had learned about, I was somehow able to figure out that the people alive in America today had NOTHING TO DO with slavery 200 years ago.
Somehow, I can still say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the Star Spangled Banner, no problem.
But dishonest fascists like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Ron DeSantis want to deprive American children of the knowledge of slavery, and African American studies because they say it's "propaganda leftist agenda" designed to teach kids to “hate America.”
That's a preposterous lie.
There are PLENTY of evils and horrors America is responsible for, and if you don't teach kids what happened in the past they may be DOOMED to repeat those horrors in the future.
Today's kids are being asked to treat as normal these "shooter drills" where the possibility of being shot with bullets that make them unrecognizable is a very real possibility, but we think they can't handle learning the truth about what happened 200 years ago?
If you ask me, those of us who learned the truth about America, and STILL love our country, are even more patriotic than those who are trying to whitewash it and hide the truth from kids.
Don't minimize it.
Don't rationalize it, with bullshit like "oh, it wasn't all bad because some people learned skills."
RESPECT THESE KIDS.
TELL THEM THE TRUTH.
Here’s an incomplete list of athletes with the same height and weight as Donald Trump who said he was 6’3 and 215 Pounds.
A thread. 🧵
First up is quarterback Aaron Rodgers who is 6’2, 223 pounds.
NEW: THREAD: Ronan Farrow’s expose on Musk is out. It’s a MUST READ. Here are some stand-out moments.
Musk deliberately throttled Starlink - the communications system Ukraine was relying on in battle. He held it hostage for $400M at critical points in the war. 1/
I LITERALLY stopped working on my memo so I could read this indictment.
I am on page 24 and JESUS LUPITA NYONG'O CHRIST.
HOW this man still has the capacity to shock me after everything that's happened, i'll never know.
but I am sitting here *STUNNED*.
I don’t care if he is the leading Republican candidate for president. Trump is a twice indicted criminal suspect and known national security threat who gave away government secrets and incited an insurrection. No news network should ever give him a live, unedited platform.
Let's level set here.
A governor had to send his taxpayer funded operation to ANOTHER state to find people to use as pawns.
He lied to them. Bussed them to yet another state. Flew them on a taxpayer funded charter flight. Then dumped them on the steps of a catholic charity.
All for his own pathetic scheme to gain attention.
We will not be backing down from holding those involved accountable.
I really want to hear how Republicans reconcile the whole "Democrats don't care about our national debt" argument with this simple, yet informative chart:
1989-1992 - Bush increases our deficit.
1993-2000 - Clinton has a budget surplus
2001-2008 - Bush increases our deficit, also sparks Great Recession
2009-2016 - Obama reduces our deficit significantly after an increase as he takes office during the Great Recession
2017-2020 - Trump increases our deficit thanks to Tax Cuts, before Covid explodes our deficit further
2021-2023 - Biden Takes over during Covid and begins reducing our deficit
Can someone tell me what I'm missing here?
I know that our national debt is a problem and both sides should be blamed to some extent, but the GOP narrative that this is a Democratic problem is just laughable to me.
