No clue what’ll be more heartbreaking:
@OhRyanMead being right that Laf is the most important Ranger
Or
@JLazzy23 being right that Laf will be an 80+ point player
The Rangers need to find a warm body to eat minutes in net, but anyone who thinks the Rangers should throw real assets at a Shesterkin replacement is in denial about what this team is capable of this season.
OB's on board 🚨
We have signed Casey O'Brien to a two-year Standard Player Agreement through the 2027-28 season. The third overall draft pick in the 2025 PWHL Draft and a 2026 Rookie of the Year finalist returns to her hometown team in New York for more.

Alberts Smits has been named this year's winner of the Lars-Erik Sjoberg Award, given annually to the top #NYR rookie in Training Camp as selected by the media.
Congrats, Alberts! 👏
The #PWHL will make a "major announcement" this Thursday, Sept. 24 at 10:30 AM at the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The league says the announcement "will mark a significant milestone for professional women’s hockey."
With rookie camp underway and main camp beginning next week, @Peter_Baugh and I examined #NYR depth charts at every position - not just the NHL-bound players, but who's next in line for AHL Hartford.

For all the PWHL fans out there, the SDHL drops the puck tomorrow, September 9.
All games are streamed free on YouTube. This league is filled with Olympians, soon-to-be PWHLers, and recent NCAA grads. Great hockey.
On to the #NYR, on whom I am more bullish than most -- or at least superfan @JLazzy23:
-- GM Chris Drury made some serious moves this offseason and it's clear he wants -- needs? -- to win now. Pavel Dorofeyev was a strong trade and he's the young scoring wing we've been hoping this org could develop itself over the last decade.
-- Marcus Pettersson/Sean Durzi is an entirely new second pair. It's not quite on the same level as Garth Snow trading for Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk an hour apart on the eve of the 2014-15 season with the #Isles, but it's in that ballpark. NYR needed D depth and they got it over the course of a couple hours on July 1.
-- Joonas Korpisalo did not win Drury any new friends among the online #NYR faithful but as I typed at the time, I don't mind it. Korpisalo posted +1.4 GSAx (from @csahockey) for BOS last year, more than acceptable for a backup.
-- All those moves still leave this team in need of higher-end depth in the bottom six (and maybe one top-six spot) but I like this team a heck of a lot more than the one that bumbled through last season.
-- Healthy Miller, healthy Fox, same old Shesterkin and I think this team will be better than most are predicting.

I said it on Tri-State, but I’d love to see:
Lafreniere
Zibanejad - Perreault - Dorofeyev
Fox
Gabe can be a great bumper guy with his poise, playmaking ability and vision.
Laf showed some improvement around the net front and you have one-time options on both flanks with Mika and Dorofeyev.
The West Wing is still a show I constantly find myself revisiting, even if it’s just dropping in for a few episodes after a long day. Aaron Sorkin did some of his best writing throughout the course of this series & Martin Sheen’s performance as President Jed Bartlet will go down in history. This is an all-time great show.
