Among patients with stroke due to medium-vessel occlusion, thrombectomy led to functional independence at 90 days (in 58.6% of patients, vs. 46.6% with medical management) but also to a higher risk of intracranial hemorrhage. Full ORIENTAL-MeVO trial results: https://t.co/FvyLPQz4CV

I am pleased to share our recent publication in the Journal of the American Heart Association (JAHA).
Our findings further support the 2026 American Heart Association/American Stroke Association guidelines, demonstrating that intensive blood pressure reduction following endovascular thrombectomy is associated with less favorable clinical outcomes.
I am sincerely grateful to all collaborators and colleagues whose contributions made this work possible.

🧠⚡️ Systematic review of 532 LVO patients shows super large bore aspiration catheters achieve high access (92%) and strong reperfusion (81%) with low complications, but modest first-pass effect (~55%) and reliance on non-randomized data highlight the need for larger prospective trials. Lowering BP excessively (SBP <140) after thrombectomy worsens outcome.
This effect is even more pronounced when ischemic leukopathy is present, likely due to impaired autoregulation.

🚨 The 2026 AHA/ACC PE guidelines changed how we think about pulmonary embolism.
Not just new treatments — a new clinical framework.
Say goodbye to “massive vs submassive.”

Intravenous thrombolysis prior to mechanical thrombectomy demonstrated comparable outcomes to thrombectomy alone in terms of functional recovery, recanalization, mortality, and hemorrhage.
