Remember Jessica Hahn from the Jim Bakker story? I’ve been watching some older documentaries over break wondering how we got into this quagmire. Hahn was pimped to Bakker by Pastor John Fletcher allegedly as a payback for Tammy Faye liking someone even though Bakker and Fletcher were both gay or bi according to employees. Both men raped her according to Hahn and tried to pay her off for her silence. Tammy Faye said her only solace was that Hahn was ugly. 😳 Hahn spoke up and was destroyed by the public. The Phil Donahue clip below 👇 was hard to watch as the audience piled up on her. She made some really poor choices because she was broke and her life spiraled. She never had kids because of her trauma. It seemed she was also estranged from her family. Her rape was calculated and planned. She was 20. Bakker was 40. He was a star. She was the babysitter. The whole PTL/Bakker saga was a lot more scandalous and gross than I knew. I wonder if there are any financial prison precedents there for Daystar. Why do these twisted people always cry like babies when they are caught? Shameless. Also, it’s crazy how tangled all these people are. The Bakkers started with Pat Robertson. They fell out and went to the Crouch’s. They fell out fast. They built PTL, but fell because they used donor funds wrongly. Hmmmm. Prison??? They got taken over by Jimmy Swaggart even though Liberty U was struggling at the time. It’s a mess. Then there was a clip of Rick Joyner on set with post-prison Bakker. Ugh. These abusers ruin lives…decades and decades of traumatized lives and everyone who turns their head or screams “STRRIFFFE!” or “Gossip!” or whatever other nonsense you say—you are just as guilty. You are part of the problem. You are complicit. You partner with the enemy. Maybe if the internet was around in the 80s there would have been more exposure on PTL. Maybe Jessica Hahn would have felt like someone was for her and her life would have turned out differently. Maybe. She loved God. She loved the Bakkers. She loved PTL. And they took advantage of it all. These people always care about their partners, the stadiums, the revival, the mountains, the cities, the campus, but never the one. Never a name—just labels to conquer that puff them up, in the name of God, of course. Jim Bakker should have been charged for rape in addition to his financial crimes and put in prison for longer. John Fletcher died of AIDS. Mike Bickle should be in prison for being a pedophile and abuse. Robert Morris should be in prison for the same. Ravi Zacharias died with his secret, but his name is sullied forever. Pedo Pete should be in prison as well. May it be the year for the one. For Jessica Hahn, Cindy Clemshire, Christa Brown, Tammy Woods, TH, Sharon Clements, Lori Anne Thompson, Baby Lamb and every other Jane Doe out there of which there are FAR TOO MANY. I pray for healing and some level of redemption for all those who have been viciously, cruelly, and most wickedly used by evil people and their sycophants. I hear over and over that what these women want is acknowledgment, ownership, apology, remorse. Restore face. Say, I see you. I wronged you. I stole from you. I killed something in you. And I’m deeply sorry. I am sick and I need Jesus. I repent. These sick and twisted men can’t give it to them and everyone who circles to protect them are part of the problem. You value the wrong things. You misunderstand God because you don’t really know Him. You brazenly use His name for your gain and take what is not yours. We fight for the one.
