This was not the first time I'd heard of digital blackface, but I found Jackson's argument incredibly compelling, specifically because she asks internet users to be more intentional in their digital presence, connecting this to the racialized impact of our choices #315weekseven
seeing yourself represented while growing up is so important since those are your most formative years! #RepresentationMatters #ccom315 #315WeekSeven
When children see themselves on the pages of books, they feel like they have a valid place in the world. #RepresentationMatters

Loved Jackson's article as it explores the meaning behind #digitalblackface in reaction GIFs. Two words: eyeopening and educational. It definitely made me reflect on the current and potential impacts that these shared images/reactions can hold in today's society #315WeekSeven

(1/2) The term #digitalblackface is new to me, which makes me feel uneasy because I have always been someone who takes cognition in awareness of what I post or say out loud in order to always create a space of inclusivity and respect of others #315WeekSeven 🌍♥️
(4/4) It makes me wonder if instead of American models, it were Cambodian models, they would feel beautiful 🤔😢♥️ For this #RepresentationMatters #ccom315 #315WeekSeven
(1/4) About 6 years ago, I was fortunate to travel to Cambodia. During my time there, I lived amongst the locals and really had first hand experience with their culture, education and traditions! 🇰🇭✈️#ccom315 #315WeekSeven #RepresentationMatters
considering doing my digital culture backgrounder on Noodle the pug...anybody familiar? #315pitches #315WeekSeven
(2/2) Fanon writes that Black people are “yearned for; white men can’t get along without him” directly mirroring the idea of digital blackface in the Wired article. #ccom315 #315WeekSeven
On the topic of digital blackface, I follow this Youtuber who made a great video essay on the topic if you are interested #315weekseven #ccom315 https://t.co/FDPYRsSxm6
I think the main pros of Wikipedia is that it give a holistic explanation which allows to think of a notion more in depth. The fact that anyone can write in Wikipedia also allows us to have different perspective from different people and not just one explanation #315weekseven
I think Wikipedia is a great tool to have. The problem with people getting their information is that they rely only on one source to tell them. However as with a lot of things version of the same event. Therefore it is essential to not solely rely on one source! #315WeekSeven
I used to use Wikipedia as a major data source for any of my projects until my teachers told me it’s not a reliable source. As of today I use Wikipedia to simply understand concepts quickly such as for instance what is a Non-Fungible Token. #315WeekSeven
Wikipedia does have accurate information as they do focus on verifiability, however there is misinformation on the website as people have their own views and they can find evidence to support their opinions while casually ignoring evidence going against their views #315WeekSeven
Meant to share this last week during the #315WikiChallenge, but my #ccom315 folks should check out @depthsofwiki (they’re also on inst)—really interesting in light of #315WeekSeven discussions!

#315WeekSeven I remembered once I read a wiki article on Kamala Harris about attending at my hs. Although some parts were missing, it made me hunt for more answers & archives as they’re filling the missing “gaps” of knowledge
#315weekseven another Pro of Wikipedia is that it’s free & most likely anonymous, like Reddit. You can edit the pages with a pseudonym & create an account w/o a subscription bundle.
